ABOUT COMMISSIONS

If you're interested in a commissioned piece, please be sure to read the rest of this page. All the information you need is below:

THINGS TO NOTE:

  • Depending on the size of the painting commissioned, the turnaround period can be anywhere between 3 weeks to 2 months and/or more if the piece happens to be quite large. However, I do tend to work fast.

  • I take a down payment of 50% before I start working on your piece. This is non-refundable. This is simply collateral and what I'll use to invest in the supplies I need for the commission (ie: canvas, paint, mediums, etc.)

  • All pieces are done on canvas.

  • All pieces are done with oil. Oil paint takes a long time to dry and even longer to cure. Waiting for it to cure isn’t necessary for me to be able to ship it, but I do like to wait for it to dry enough so it isn’t damaged. Please be aware of this added time.

  • I do not offer framing. All pieces are shipped wrapped around stretcher bars. If you're interested in having your piece framed, please consult a professional framer in your area.

  • Instructions on how to care for your piece will be provided in your parcel.

WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN ASKING FOR A COMMISSION:

  1. First and foremost,  I like to have a conversation with my clients to understand exactly what they're looking for. I will ask you a series of questions and I really appreciate it when you can be as clear as possible. I care a lot about my work and a lot about my clients and I only want to provide the best I can. I will ask you questions such as what colours you're interested in, what colours you're not a fan of, what size you’re after and so on. Feel free to send me any ideas, inspiration pictures, etc.

  2. Once I have an idea of what you’re after, I typically start with something somewhat like a prototype that I create digitally to get a feel of the composition. However, please note that this prototype and the final result will be nothing alike (see images to the right of before and after). I’ll send you a total of three different ideas and allow you to choose the one you like best and we can make alterations from there.

  3. When all is said and done, I take a 50% down payment. Once again, this is non-refundable and is simply collateral and what I'll use to invest in the supplies I need for the commission (ie: canvas, paint, mediums, etc.) I will also have you sign a contract that states my terms and conditions as an artist as well as our mutually agreed upon expectations. Once the payment has been cleared and the contract has been digitally signed, I’ll proceed with the piece.

  4. Once the piece has been completed, the remaining 50% is paid and when the payment clears, I ship your piece.
